Can You Paint a Teak Garden Table?

It is possible to paint teak furniture but due to its naturally oily properties that help protect it and give it its distinctive shine, it can sometimes be difficult to get paint to take to the wood. Nevertheless, if you have your heart set on turning your rectangle patio table another shade, it can be done. Painting teak is easiest if the wood is older and slightly more weathered as the colour is less likely to go streaky or be rejected by the wood’s natural oils.

To begin, you should thoroughly clean your teak patio garden table with soapy water or a special teak cleaning product. You’ll also need to lightly sand down or fill in any holes or scratches in the wood with wood filler to make the surface of the table smooth for painting.
