FAQs
What is a Jack and Jill bench?
A Jack and Jill bench is a teak companion seat built for two people to sit closely together, usually with an adjoining table in between for drinks, books, or anything else you want close to hand.
What's the difference between a Jack and Jill bench and a companion seat?
They're essentially the same style of garden furniture - two seats joined together, often angled slightly inward so you can sit close and still face each other. "Companion seat" and "Jack and Jill seat" are simply two names for the same design.
Can I get a garden love seat with a table?
Yes - most of our loveseat, including the Windsor and Oxford, come with a built-in adjoining table, so you don't need to add a separate side table to your outdoor space.
How do I look after my teak companion bench?
Teak is naturally oil-rich and weather-resistant, so it needs very little maintenance. Left untreated, it will age to a soft silvery-grey patina; if you'd rather keep the golden tone, an occasional application of teak oil will do it. A waterproof cover is also available if you'd like extra protection over winter.
Is a Jack and Jill bench comfortable for two people to sit close together?
Yes - the design is built specifically for closeness, with wide, supportive seating and armrests, so two people can sit together comfortably without feeling cramped.
